New Beginings

I've been playing guitar on and off for years - but mainly off for the last 25! As a teenager I played hours and hours every day and was simultaneously in a punk, jazz, and musical theatre support band - so was good at 'crossing genres'.  For various reasons I put the guitar down for a long time and have recently started playing again.

As a teenager I played hours and hours every day and was simultaneously in a punk, jazz, and musical theatre support band - so was good at 'crossing genres'.  For various reasons I put the guitar down for a long time and have recently started playing again. Its not true that getting back to playing guitar will be like riding a bike '..you never forget'. I've forgotten SO MUCH it hurts. I can't sight-read music, I've forgot all but the major/minor chords and lost my knowledge of scales etc.  I guess its time to start over...

 Helping this is an old local band that needed a new bassist.  Here I enter having never played the bass before but am starting to get to grips with it. They play a mix of Ska, Reggae and 1970's-style punk-rock (my era).  To help me get more from the experience and as a practice setup I recently bought a X3-Live and a JM4 Looper.  I was amazed that the JM4 had nothing on it (drums or songs) for reggae or punk-rock. I guess I didn't expect ska to be on it as this was a more UK phenominon but no reggae!!!!
