There are tons of songs, where I wonder exactly what effects are being used on the guitar(s) and how I can mimic those effects.

I myself don't have anything more sophisticated then your basic Line 6 Pod, and then a lot of your 1-effect pedals used in a stomp-box. So I think a section where we can discuss effects and the best way to achieve them on any used equipment would be very cool. basically, someone could start a thread asking about a band or a song and then different members "in the know" could answer and tell the thread-starter how (s)he can mimic those effects with or without Line 6 equipment.

Just a thought. Very Happy

Very Happy That's a really good idea HevenBlues excellent!
I get a bit frustrated myself in particular with delays, (Times, mix level, number of repeats, y'know?) and things like flangers, phasers etc, for example, I have yet to find a really good sound for the intro to 'She sells sanctuary' by the Cult?
I have created one but I'm not overly happy with it, I created one in my Boss Gt5 that was absolutely spot on but I cannot even come close with the Pod? Confused
Another sought after sound would be a good 12 string but for a humbucker equipped guitar, (I know single coils are generally better for acoustic sounds but I only use my Gibson.)

thats a mighty fine suggestion there mate.you can achieve awesome tones with the pod but they will never account for analogue stomps but the pods easier to use lol.

ive found you can take say .......a big muff, flange, delay and eq and get just a horrible tone on the pod

but then use analogue stomps and you will get a beautifull tone so ive found on the pod.i turn everything off and start with an amp sim i like.then i add a distortion.i go through them until i achieve a sound i lkike.i then add eq,delay and reverb to big up the sound.usiong this method i have created some real beautys
